Blocks in ScratchJr
Making Pages:
In Scratch Jr, we can create different pages for our stories. Each page can show a different scene or event in our story. Let’s learn how to make pages for our stories:
Step 1: Click on the “+” Button – Look for the “+” button in Scratch Jr.
Step 2: Draw or Add Characters – On each page, draw or add characters to act out your story.
Step 3: Create Different Scenes – Use your imagination to create exciting scenes on each page. It could be a forest, a beach, or even outer space!
Set Speed Block:
In Scratch Jr, we can control how fast or slow our characters move. The Set Speed block helps us decide how quickly our characters should go. Let’s see how to use the Set Speed block:
Step 1: Find the Set Speed Block – Look for the Set Speed block in the coding area. It’s like a speedometer!
Step 2: Drag the Block – Drag the Set Speed block to the character you want to
control.
Step 3: Choose the Speed – Click on the block and choose how fast or slow you want the character to move.
Wait Block:
Sometimes in our stories, we want our characters to pause for a moment before doing something. The Wait block helps us create those pauses. Let’s see how to use the Wait block:
Step 1: Find the Wait Block – Look for the Wait block in the coding area. It looks like a clock!
Step 2: Drag the Block – Drag the Wait block to the place where you want your character to pause.
Step 3: Set the Time – Click on the block and choose how long your character should wait.
Use Paint to Make Your Own Block:
In Scratch Jr, we can make our own special blocks using Paint! This allows us to create unique actions for our characters. Let’s learn how to use Paint to make our own blocks:
Step 1: Open Paint – Find the Paint tool in Scratch Jr and open it.
Step 2: Draw Your Block – Use your creativity to draw a new block that represents a special action.
Step 3: Save the Block – When you are happy with your drawing, save it as a new block.
